Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted burglary and arson attack at a Coventry bank.

Officers believe the raiders forced their way into the Midland Bank on Walsgrave Road, which had been closed on Friday while contractors carried out refitting work, in the early hours of this morning.

They could have stayed inside the bank for up to two hours. They forced a worker’s tool case and tried to break into a cashpoint machine, but failed.
