Police are hoping that the unusual nature of a rape
in Coventry may help them to track down the attacker.
A 52-year-old Coventry woman was walking home in the early hours of Sunday morning
after a night out with friends when she was assaulted on Coundon Road, Radford.
The rapist was naked, and it is hoped that this may mean people will have noticed him
around the time of the attack.
A police spokesperson said:
"It is not often that you see naked people on the streets and hopefully someone
who was in the area may have seen this man.
"The attack happened between 1.30 and 1.40am, so we would appeal for anyone who
was close by between 1.30 and 2am to contact us so we can build up a clearer picture.
"It was a warm night, but the fact that the man didnt have any clothes on
suggests he might live nearby."
The victim was walking past Bablake School when she was raped in the street, before the
man climbed over the school wall and fled across the grounds.
The attacker is described as white with shoulder-length sandy coloured hair, around 5ft
10ins tall and of slim build.
Police are also trying to trace an Asian taxi driver who drove the victim to safety
after she flagged him down, in case he has any further clues about the incident.
The victim is thought to have suffered bruising during the ordeal but is otherwise
physically unharmed.
Police are anxious to hear from anyone who may be able to provide information about the
incident and witnesses are be asked to call Coventry CID on 01203 539082.
