Police in Leamington are hunting for a
rogue Alsatian after it attacked a 73-year-old woman and savaged her pet dog.
The pensioner needed stitches in her left leg after suffering serious
injuries in the attack yesterday morning.
Her pet dog, a terrier, was still receiving treatment from a vet
today after suffering neck and throat injuries in the mauling.
The victim was out in the shopping precinct in Sydenham Drive at 11am
yesterday when she was set upon.
Police said a large Alsatian-type dog, which was wandering around
without a lead, suddenly turned on the woman and bit her.
Officers are appealing for information to help them trace the
dogs owner. It is believed that she lives in the Sydenham area.
She is described as white, large build with brown curly hair. She is
believed to be in her late 30s.
Anyone
who saw the attack or who knows where the dogs owner can be found should contact
community beat officer PC Phil Ayley on 01926 415000.
