[16 APR 00] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Dangerous Drugs Stolen In Atherstone

Police have warned people in the Atherstone area to be on the look-out for some dangerous drugs that were stolen in the town.

Potentially dangerous painkillers were in a handbag that was stolen from the Hurley Working Men’s Club in Hurley, Atherstone on Thursday evening.

The owner realised that the bag’s contents, including £300 in cash and ten 50mg Pethadine ampules were missing yesterday.

Inspector David Sutcliffe said the painkillers were prescribed and were intended for injection only.

He said:

"These are dangerous drugs in the wrong hands, especially for children who may come across them."

He urged anyone who knew the whereabouts of the drugs to call police on 01926 415000 or Crimestoppers 0800 555111.
