Thousands of pounds of damage was caused to an Exhall factory at the weekend after arsonists set fire to goods stored outside the building.

Fire crews were called to Morgan’s Timber and Boards in Crondal Road on the Bayton Road Industrial Estate shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Plastic pallets and extendable containers that were stored outside the building had been set on fire.

The blaze caused damage to the side wall of the yard and the eaves of the roof. Smoke damage was also caused to the inside of the building.

In total it is estimated that more than £10,000 of damage was caused in the attack.
