Plane Overshoots At Baginton

An investigation is underway after a plane overshot the runway at Coventry Airport, broke through the perimeter fence and ended up on a road on Saturday morning.

Police and fire were called to the scene at Baginton just after 6am.

The plane went over the end of the tarmac and on to the Stoneleigh Road, which was closed for a few hours.

Airport staff recovered the plane and took it back within the airfield boundary.

Police handed over the inquiry to the Air Accident Investigation Bureau which is carrying out inquires into the incident.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue were called to the scene. There was no fire and no injuries, but they helped airport firefighters help with the water supply.

The plane was a Fokker F27 twin-engined cargo plane.
