[07 JUL 00] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Girl Fights Off Three Bike Robbers

Police have called a teenage Coventry girl who struggled with three robbers trying to take her bike as ‘brave’.

The 16-year-old was set on by two youths and a girl as she walked along Palm Tree Avenue in Wood End.

A police spokeswoman said:

“The girl demanded money, but when the 16-year-old said she had not got any, they demanded her bike. A struggle followed as they grabbed the bike, but the 16 year old held on it.

“One of the three then took her baseball cap she was wearing, and the girl handed over about £1.90 in change.

“They all made off when a car approached. The girl was not believed injured, but was shaken by the ordeal.”

Witnesses are sought to the incident about 8.45pm on Thursday.

The girl attacker is described as 5ft 9in, with dark hair tied back wearing blue jeans and a jacket.

The males were said to be about 18 – one was 5ft 11in, with dark hair and a blond fringe. The other was a bit shorter with brown hair and jogging bottoms. All three are white.
