[24 JUL 00] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Shots Fired As Raiders Flee Without Cash

Shots were fired by robbers trying to steal money from a Coventry Indian takeaway yesterday, but the offenders fled empty-handed.

Two attackers went into Bonoful Spice in King William Street, Hillfields at 1am as the staff were closing for the day.

One of them pointed a handgun at the staff and demanded money, but they refused to hand any over.

The attackers then fled, firing two shots as they went, which damaged a door. No customers were in the building at the time and no-one was injured.

The man with the hand gun is black, thin and 5ft 10in. He was wearing a white a red checked scarf over his face and had a black cotton jacket.

His accomplice is also black, slim, in his late teens or early 20s and he was wearing dark or black clothing. He too had a scarf over his face.

Any witnesses should could DC John Fanti on 024 7653 9010.
