Cyclist
Killed in A444 Rush-Hour Smash
A
cyclist was killed this morning in a crash that left a main road
in north Warwickshire closed through the rush hour.
The
man has been named as Christopher Wheeler, 34, of Jardine
Crescent, Tile Hill, Coventry. The van driver was named as
Darren Lang, 22, from Leicester.
The
accident at 6.30pm occurred on the A444, which runs north from the
M6 and Bedworth towards Nuneaton.
The
scene of the crash was close to the new cinema and it led to long
tailbacks.
The
man on a mountain bike was in collision with a Mercedes Sprinter
box van. He was taken to hospital, but died from his injuries.
Police
closed the northbound A444 for several hours, but it has since
reopened.
