Passengers Attack And Rob Nuneaton Taxi Driver

A taxi driver needed hospital treatment after he was robbed and assaulted by two passengers in Bedworth.

He picked the fare up in Nuneaton and was driving turning from Pine Tree Road into Furnace Road in Bedworth when he was attacked about 1.45am on Saturday.

A police spokeswoman said:

“He pulled over to let the men out. One of them grabbed him around the throat.

“The other got out of the car, went to the driver’s door, opened it and assaulted the taxi driver, punching him around the face.”

They stole cash and smashed the car’s CB radio. The driver received cuts and bruises to his face and had chipped teeth.

The 24-year-old from Nuneaton was treated and discharged from the George Eliot Hospital.

The first attacker was described as: white, aged 20 to 30, short black hair wearing white or cream jeans and heavily tattooed on his forearms.

His accomplice was also white, aged 20 to 25, 5ft 7in, with short blond hair, a light shirt and dark trousers. He had a spotty complexion and reddening around his mouth.

Anyone with information should call Warwickshire Police on 024 7664 1111.
