Masked Robbers Strike At A45 Petrol Station

A garage attendant was robbed by two men wearing stockings over their faces who threatened him with a broom.

They struck at John’s Filling Station at Willoughby on the A45 between Rugby and Daventry about 4.45pm yesterday.

Insp Paul Littlehales of Warwickshire Police said:

“Two men, possibly West Indian in origin, entered the forecourt kiosk of the filling station on the busy A45 London Road at Willoughby.

“One brandished a broom handle and demanded money from the elderly male attendant.”

They took the £130 cash and fled behind the garage on foot. The attendant was not injured in the robbery.

Soon after, a grey or green Capri left the scene and headed through the village. It was abandoned soon after.

Police want to hear from any witnesses or people who saw a similar car in the area yesterday tea time.

They should call Pc Holloway of Rugby CID on 01788 541111.
