[17 OCT 00] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Hunt For Nightclub Sex Attacker

A woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault after she was tricked into leaving a Coventry nightclub with a man she thought was a bouncer.

She was approached by the attacker in Fatty Arbuckles nightclub in Stoney Stanton Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The woman, aged 21, thought the man was a bouncer as he escorted her outside.

But he took her to a patch of land nearby called Red House Park and attacked her.

He struck her to the ground and seriously sexually assaulted her as he tried to rape her.

The man ran off after the victim fought back. She returned to the club and raised the alarm.

She suffered bruising to her face and was extremely distressed by the incident.

Police today issued an appeal for anyone who saw anything to come forward. They called on anyone in the nightclub between 12.30am and 2am who may have sent he victim being led outside to get in touch.

She is 5ft 3ins and was wearing black three-quarter length trousers and a black sequined top.

Her attacker is dark skinned and spoke with an accent, and was possibly from eastern Europe. He is about 5ft 7ins and fat, and had very neat dark brown hair tied back in a pony tail.

The man had a distinctive piercing through his upper lip with a silver hoop with a gold ball and a gold hoop through his right ear. He was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up and black baggy trousers with turn-ups.

Detectives at Stoney Stanton Road said they are also keen to speak to taxi or private-hire drivers who were picking up or setting down outside the club at the time, and also anyone at a burger van believed to have been serving food outside.

Anyone with any information should call police on 024 7653 9812 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
