Coventry Man To Face Spanish Air Rage Charges

A Coventry man is being extradited to Spain to face allegations that he slashed a stewardess with a bottle in an air rage attack.

Steven Handy, aged 39, who has recently been living in Folkestone is accused of lashing out when the stewardess asked him to stop smoking in the toilets.

He is being extradited to Spain to face trial over the charges. If found guilty he could face up to six years in jail.

The alleged incident happened in Malaga two years ago. The stewardess, Fiona Weir, aged 33, of Wimbledon needed 18 stitches after Handy allegedly hit her on the head with a bottle.

It is claimed that he launched his attack after she asked him to sit down and warned him about smoking in the aeroplane toilets.
