Security Guard Stabbed In Tussle

A security guard was slashed in the face as he struggled with an alleged shoplifter in a street yesterday.

The security guard from Debenhams grappled with the man outside the Nat West bank in Nuneaton town centre yesterday.

During the altercation, the guard, a man aged 40 from Wolverhampton, received a 3cm gash to his face.

He was taken to George Eliot hospital for treatment.

Police later arrested a 24-year-old man from Nuneaton in New Century Way.

He was taken into custody on suspicion of wounding, criminal damage of a window and theft.
