[08 JAN 01] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Female Guard Grabbed As Cash Stolen

A man grabbed a security guard around the neck and stole the cashbox she was carrying from a Coventry DIY store.

The daylight attack happened on Saturday outside B&Q on the Alvis Retail Park in Holyhead Road at 1.30pm.

The offender approached the 32-year-old woman, who was carrying the box and grabbed her.

He told her to hand over the box, which contained cash and cheques, and he fled with it in a green Ford Fiesta.

The car was later found abandoned in Doebank Lane, near the store. Police discovered that it had been stolen.

Detectives appealed for witnesses to contact them on 024 7653 9082. The man they are looking for is in his early 30s, 5ft 9ins, clean shaven with dark, wavy hair, and he wore faded blue jeans and a dark blue jacket.
