Hammer Threat At Coventry Shop

A man wielding a hammer escaped with a large sum of money from a Coventry store after threatening a shop assistant yesterday.

He walked into Newsflask in Charter Avenue, Canley at 1.20pm brandishing the weapon.

He threatened the 26-year-old employee and took money from till, BT phonecards and cigarettes before fleeing.

He is white, slim, 5ft 7ins and aged between 20 and 30. He was wearing a black bomber jacket, a dark baseball cap, blue jeans and had teeth missing.
