[08 JAN 01] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Gun Man Holds Up Wine Store

A shopkeeper was threatened with a gun in a rapid armed robbery at a wine shop.

The attack happened on Friday at 5.40pm at Frazier Wines in Stratford Road, Wootton Wawen.

A red car pulled up outside the shop and a man with a stocking over his head got out and entered the building.

He pointed a grey gun at the shopkeeper and stole money from the till. The man then got back into the car and it drove off.

The offender was wearing an anorak with a pouch in the front, into which he put the money.

The car, a red Vauxhall Cavalier, was later found abandoned at the Reservoir Hotel in Earlswood. It had been stolen from Birmingham earlier that day.

Any witnesses should call DS Richard Long at Alcester police station on 01926 415000.
