Sweet Display Of Courage Against Robber

A man working in an off-licence threw a display of sweets at a robber who threatened him with a knife and demanded money.

The attack happened in Willes Road, Leamington at 9pm last night when the offender walked into Boozebusters.

No-one else was in the off-licence at the time and the man approached the 52-year-old working behind the counter.

He pulled a black-handled seven-inch knife out of his top and threatened the man.

But the assistant threw a confectionery display at the offender, who fled empty-handed.

He is in his late 20s, slim build, 6ft and wore a black hooded top hat covered most of his face.

Anyone who saw where the man ran to after he left the shop should call PC Wong at Leamington police station on 01296 415000.
