[23 JAN 01] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Knife Held To Truck Driver's Throat

A truck driver was hijacked and robbed at knife point as he waited at traffic lights in Coventry.

The man was in Riley Square waiting for the lights to change when a man got in his cab on Saturday at 11.30pm.

He asked the driver for a lift and told him to take him to Wood End.

Once they were on the estate the man produced a knife and held it to the driver’s throat.

He took a £1,000 watch, a £350 bracelet, a £300 neck chain, a Nokia mobile phone and bank cards and then escaped.

The offender is black, 5ft 8ins, in his late 20s or early 30s and wore a light-coloured anorak with the hood up.

Witnesses should call police on 024 7662 1756.
