[09 FEB 01] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Youths Attack Pensioner In His Home

A pensioner was bundled to the ground and robbed by two teenagers who burst into his home and attacked him in his living room.

The incident happened at 2.30pm in Sitwell Avenue, Long Itchington.

The 76-year-old victim was sitting in his lounge when two youths aged about 15 or 16 barged their way in. Police say they do not know at this stage if the door was locked or not.

The youths bundled the pensioner to the ground and ransacked his pockets. They took £30 in cash and a bank book before fleeing.

One is slim, 5ft 4ins, with mousey crew cut hair. He wore blue jeans and a navy anorak. His accomplice is shorter, and had a dark blue coat.

It is thought that the attackers threw an empty can at the man’s window before committing the offence.

Anyone who saw anything should call detectives in Leamington on 01926 415000.
