Coventry Teenager Murdered At City House

An 18-year-old man was murdered in Coventry last night when he was stabbed following an altercation at a house in the city.

Police were called at about 10.25pm to reports of a man with stab wounds at Salford Close, Stoke.

When officers arrived, ambulance staff were trying to resuscitate the teenager, who had suffered serious stab wounds to the back. The man died upon arrival at hospital.

A post mortem into his death will be carried out today to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Two men have been arrested and are currently helping police with their enquiries at Chace Avenue police station.

It is believed that the man had been visiting the address in Salford Close with a friend when there was an altercation inside.

Supt Bob Minshull from Stoney Stanton Road police station said:

"We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything to contact us at the incident room.

"It may be that the murder weapon, believed to be a six inch bladed knife, has been discarded somewhere near to Salford Close and we shall be carrying out a search this morning in and around the area to try and find it.

"We would ask that if anybody sees this weapon that they do not touch it but that they call the police immediately.

"We shall also be looking for any clothing with blood stains on it."

"Scenes of Crime Officers, forensic staff and the OSU will be working in and around the area this morning gathering any evidence. We shall also be carrying out house to house enquiries."

Anyone with any information can call Crimestoppers confidentially on 0800 555 111 or police at Stoney Stanton Road on 024 7653 9020.
