[06 APR 01] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Laptop Snatch Attempt In Coventry Street

A man was slightly injured yesterday after two attackers tried to snatch his laptop computer in a Coventry street.

The incident happened at a bus stop in Binley Road at the junction with Copeswood Terrace at about 6.10pm.

The 26 year old Hillfields man was waiting at the bus stop when the two men came and stood by him in the shelter.

They demanded that the man hand over his bag, he refused and then there was a tussle between the offenders and the man as he held onto his bag.

One of the offenders did manage to get the bag off the man but he managed to get it back and the offenders then ran off empty handed.

The first offender is described as an Asian man, about 5ft 11in tall and of stocky build. He was aged in his early 20's and wearing dark sports type clothing with a hood over most of his face.

The second offender is described as an Asian man, about 5ft 9in tall and of medium build. He was also wearing dark sports type clothing with a hood over most of his face.

The victim suffered bruising to his body.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at Chace Avenue on 024 7653 9040.
