[01 DEC 01] CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Reward To Catch Ram Raiders

A £1000 reward is being offered by the owner of a designer clothes shop that was ram-raided last week.

VIP Clothing in Earl Street, Coventry was attacked by ram-raiders who stole £40,000 of designer clothes.

Now Mr Bains, joint owner of the shop, is offering a reward of £1000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of offenders.

The raid happened shortly before midnight on Tuesday 20 November when a stolen red Metro was used to smash through the metal roller shutters of the shop.

Three thieves wearing hoods and with their faces covered then took various items of clothing. They then put them into a second vehicle, a dark blue 'R' registered Golf GTI, and escaped towards Hillfields.

Police have not yet traced the Golf vehicle. The Metro had been stolen from the Stoke area earlier on the day of the raid.

The goods stolen were a variety of men's and women's clothing, jumpers, tops, jeans, trousers, skirts and jackets. This included clothing from designers labels such as Moschino, Stone Island, Prada, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Evisu, Versace and Armani.

Anyone with information about this incident should call 0845 113 5000 and ask for CID at Little Park Street police station or people can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
