[23 JUN 99] WARWICKSHIRE FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE PRESS RELEASE
Nuneaton Fire Station

The County Fire Officer Brian Hibbert announces on behalf of the fire Authority that a public open forum will be held in respect of the proposed change of location for Nuneaton Fire Station.

Their meeting will be held at Manor Park Community School, Beaumont Road, Nuneaton on Tuesday 29 June 1999 at 7pm and is scheduled to finish at 9pm. The meeting will be Chaired by Councillor Tim Nayor the Chairman of Warwickshire County Council’s Emergency Services Sub-Committee.

Also attending the meeting will be the County Fire Officer, other senior Fire and County Council Officers who will outline to the residents and business community of Nuneaton the facilities and benefits that will be offered by this new scheme and also clarify any potential issues of concern.

Three years ago, the County Council were approached by a firm of property developers, Deeley Properties Limited, with a scheme to provide a replacement fire station for the Nuneaton area.

Plans have now been developed by Deeley Properties Ltd for the provision of a purpose built fire station adjacent to the George Elliot Hospital, which maintains the existing standards of fire cover in the Nuneaton area, in exchange for an opportunity by the company to develop the site of the existing fire station in Newton Road. The plans for the George Eliot site also encompass facilities for the Warwickshire Ambulance Service.

Plans of the new development can be inspected at Nuneaton Library until 19 July 1999 and if anyone cannot attend the public forum then their views about the new development will still be welcome and should reach the Clerk of the Council (for the attention of Daryl Davies), PO Box 9, Shire Hall, Warwick, CV34 4RR by 19 July.
