La Vie De Jesus Gets The Go-ahead

Coventry City Council's Licensing Panel has given permission for an unclassified film "La Vie de Jesus" to be screened at the University of Warwick Arts Centre.

The film will be shown 27-30 November as part of a Contemporary European Tour, but the licensing panel has directed that no one under 18 years of age must be admitted.

The members of the panel watched a private screening of the film before making their decision.

One leading councillor who watched the film was not impressed. He described it as "boring - more about racism than explicit sex".

Where a film is not submitted to the British Board of Film Classification for a certificate, it falls to local councils to decide whether it can be shown and to what age group.
