[15 DEC 98] ALSTOM  PRESS RELEASE
Alstom To Supply High Voltage Lines To Morocco

ALSTOM's Local Contracting Sector has been awarded two contracts worth 30 million ECU to supply Moroccan electricity utility, ONE (Office National d'Electricité), with 430 km of very high voltage lines. These are the first turnkey contracts for very high voltage lines to be awarded by ONE.

The 225 kV lines will transport the electricity produced by the two 330 MW units currently being constructed at the Jorf Lasfar power station, as well as electricity produced by the Mohammedia power station.

In addition to supplying the lines, ALSTOM's Local Contracting Sector will be responsible for the manufacture and installation of pylons and 320 km of fibre optic cables.

The lines are scheduled to enter service in December 1999 and March 2000.

The Company's integrated services offer, from the supply of pylons to line installation, together with its strong local presence, were key factors in ONE's decision to award the contracts to ALSTOM.

With annual sales of 14 billion ECU, ALSTOM is among the leading suppliers of components, systems and services to the world's infrastructure markets.
