Fifteen fire crews, with 75 firefighters, were called to the blaze that was accompanied by a number of gas explosions.

Nearby factories and houses were evacuated and roads were closed. Police advised other local residents to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed.

Of the three injured people taken to hospital, two suffered only minor burns but a third, a man in his 20's, is in a serious condition.

The fire was brought under control by lunchtime.
