Palmer Hargreaves Win Six Awards!

Leamington-based advertising and marketing communications agency Palmer Hargreaves is celebrating after being voted the Midlands agency of the year.

The company took six gold Cream awards at the industry's annual prize-giving night - more than any other agency.

It scooped five awards for its work for Continental Tyres as well as sharing the top prize for best agency.

Managing Director Andrew Clift said: "Winning the Midlands Agency Of The Year Award is a massive vote of confidence. Two or three years ago we were a middle-ranked agency with big names above us but we have risen steadily. Now being voted the best agency in the region is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud."

The agency, which is based on The Parade and employs more than 60 people, has worked for German firm Continental for over three years.

The ad, which shows Continental as Germans lightly poking fun at themselves, has gone down well on both sides of the channel and boosted Continental's market share.

Account Director Mick Stoves said: "When we saw the concept we thought it was a brilliant ad and the sort that might win the respect of our peers. But that is not the most important thing - ads have to be effective and Continental's performance has proved that the campaign has been just that.

"It was a tremendous night for all of us. The chairman of the judges was Trevor Beattie, the man responsible for the Wonderbra ads and probably the most publicly known figure in our industry, so to win the biggest prize from him was a great honour."

Palmer Hargreaves was founded in 1986 and handles accounts for Ford in the UK and Europe, Harrison Drape, Alex Lawrie, The English Sports Council, AAH Pharmaceuticals and Slick 50. It has also worked for the Coventry Evening Telegraph.

Tony Murray, editor of Adline magazine, which organised the award ceremony at the ICC, said: "The judges thought the work was very strong and it won every category it came up in. To win six gold awards is unusual.

"Some larger agencies make a lot of noise about taking the creative high ground but Palmer Hargreaves lets the quality of its work do the talking."
