[28 APR 99] SAXON TILES AND TUBS PRESS RELEASE
New Bathroom Business Is Bubbling

Saxon Tiles and Tubs opened at Easter and has had to handle a stream of inquiries and orders.

The new business, based in Albert Street, has been founded by three partners – father and daughter Peter and Amanda Brotherton and Simon Steadman – and supplies everything from a tub of adhesive to specially imported tiles and luxurious airspa baths.

The three spent months sourcing tiles from across Europe and hand-picking a range of bathrooms, showers and accessories.

Simon, who has several years experience in the tile and bathroom industry, said:

"People are taking a lot more interest and care in the design and appearance of their bathrooms. We looked to Spain and Italy as well as the UK for our wall and floor tiles and many are exclusive to us in this area.

"We contact manufacturers through the Internet and import many products direct, which allows us to cut out the middle-man and therefore be very competitive.

"We have been delighted with the response. We completed an order within an hour of opening and it has been very busy since.

"We offer design advice and can visit customers’ homes to assess their bathroom needs. We are also well aware that selling and supplying bathrooms, showers and tiles is a part of the job and we have therefore taken great care establishing a bank of approved contractors and fitters."

The company’s split level showroom, with free parking, is open seven days a week.
