Young Persons Views Sought On Spon Street

A judging panel will meet today to consider plans for the multi-million pound refurbishment of Spon Street. The panel which will meet at 2pm in Committee Room 4 will include senior councillors and council chiefs and representatives from local community and traders organisations.

Also present will be two young people from the Spon End area. Kirsty Noble (aged 11) a pupil at Spon Gate School and Alexander Norman (aged 12) of Waveley Road will give a young persons perspective to the plans which will introduce artistic panels to the street and create a feature on the site of the old Spon Gate.

Work will begin at the beginning of June and will include the length of Spon Street including the Spon Street subway. Completion of the work is timed to coincide with the opening of the new Leisure World complex in September.
