[25 FEB 00] COVENTRY UNIVERSITY PRESS RELEASE
New Company Offers Long-term Care Solutions Via The Internet

Newly established hi-tech company Inform Choice based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire - which offers a choice of rest and nursing homes via the Internet - is off to a flying start with a £2,500 prize, thanks to Coventry University's Springboard Scheme.

Springboard, offered through the University's Graduates into Business (GIB) scheme, is supported by the EU's European Social Fund, the Coventry Centre for Investment, the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, Training and Enterprise, and the Prince's Business Trust.

The scheme provides 13 weeks training and business development for budding entrepreneurs, during which they develop a comprehensive business plan for their new enterprise.

At the end of each programme an award of £2,500 is made to the most promising potential business with the latest winners being Fiona Guest and Jenny Homer of the web-based company Inform Choice.

This new company will help local and national care providers market themselves effectively on the Internet. Fiona Guest explains:

"The Inform Choice website, which goes live at the end of March, brings together nursing homes and rest homes wishing to publicise their services, and people seeking nursing or rest home places for their loved ones."

"By accessing our site you will be able to walk through rest homes from the comfort of your armchair. Fancy a walk round? No problem. Video links will take you along corridors, up stairs and into rooms and even outside to view the gardens. No need for weekend trips in the car, simply find your care provider you need via your computer",

added Fiona.

"Graduates into Business has now helped over 100 graduates into self employment"

said Bob Peapell of GIB.

"These graduates have come predominantly from the Coventry area and have established businesses in areas such as sport and leisure, computers, fire safety, music and motorsports. I would like to congratulate Inform Choice as being the latest recipients of the prize for the most promising new company established as a result of Springboard",

added Bob.

Care providers wanting to appear on the Inform Choice website can contact Inform Choice on 0870 321 4726, or email info@informchoice.co.uk
