Coventry Students To Reunite
Weatherman and former Coventry student John Kettley will be coming to the city in the summer to meet up with old friends at Coventry University's first reunion.
The weekend, which has been organised by alumni association Friends of Coventry University (FOCUS), is being held on 9-11 June.
John, who has been one of the BBC's most famous weathermen since he was the subject of a hit song in the 1980s, studied physics in Coventry in the mid-seventies.
He will be returning to his former stamping ground at a reunion dinner at the Hotel Leofric as the highlight of the weekend's activities.
The event, which is open to people who studied at the university or at the institution under its former names, is the first of its kind.
It has been timed to coincide with Coventry's Godiva Festival, which is fast making a name for itself as one of the Midlands top musical and entertainment events.
Event organiser Pauline Greene said:
"We are expecting graduates to return to Coventry from across the country for the event, which will be a chance for our former students to relive their student days.
"There will be a free minibus laid on to the Godiva Festival, which will provide a feast of entertainment to suit all tastes.
"There is also the opportunity to visit the Museum of British Road Transport, the brand new SkyDome complex, or the home of Jaguar Cars - and that's just for starters."
Many people are expected to return to the city for the first time since their student days.
As well as seeing the numerous changes to the city centre, many will be reliving their student days with a drink in the Students' Union bar - which will be open all day every day across the weekend.
"All in all this should be a great weekend in Coventry which will bring the memories flooding back for everyone."
