Uni's Biology Department Gets Almost Perfect Results

The University of Warwick's Biological Sciences Department has received an almost perfect score, from a national inspection team, for the quality of its teaching. The department scored 23 points out of a possible maximum of 24.

The University has now received fourteen ratings of "excellent", or scores of 21 or more points, out of the sixteen subject areas assessed for teaching quality to date. The Higher Education Funding Council for England's Teaching Quality Assessment team particularly praised the Biological Sciences Department for: -

  • Its research led curriculum (NB Warwick is one of the UK's top 5 research universities)
  • "The strong emphasis on laboratory skills" within the department
  • The "excellent academic and pastoral support" for students
  • The emphasis on transferable skills, and the preparation of students for employment
