Guestbook - May 2006

The Guestbook is not just about finding old friends, you might also want to post questions about the local area or make comment on a visit to Coventry and Warwickshire. If you would like to post a message to the guestbook please send them to : editor@cwn.org.uk

NOTE : For any enquiries where someone is trying to find someone else we feel it better if you do know the people being sought to ask them first before passing on any information about them - remember they may not want to be found!

[31 MAY 06] THE CAMPBELL TWINS
I lost all contact with school friends from my time at Stoke Heath (the Headmistress then was Mrs Moore).

Does anyone remember us - the identical Campbell twins (John & Fred)? We lived at 46 Swan Lane.  After the 11+ exam John went to Frederick Birds and I to John Gulson. (John now lives in New Zealand).

I have also lost all contact with school friends from my time at John Gulson School. I lost contact with many/most of them except those that then went on to play rugger in the CCOB RFC. (I was a founder and playing member from 1955 – 1962).

In 1954 we at John Gulson were moved to the newly opened Caludon Castle Comprehensive School. We had really good times at both John Gulson and Caludon Castle. At Caludon my housemaster was Mr Turner and some teachers that come to mind are Wal Evans, Jack Knight and Mr Hodson.

After Caludon I became an apprentice with Dunlop Rim & Wheel Co Ltd where I was joined by two school friends from Caludon : Brian Bedford (still in contact with) and Walter Gregory. One school friend from 1950 - 1955 that I have managed to trace is Maurice Bambrick.

I am interested to come into contact with any school friend (that I am not now in contact with) from 1950 - 1955. I visit the UK frequently and will attend the reunion celebration of the CCOB RFC on 16 September 2006 in Coventry.

I left Coventry and the UK in 1962. I now live in Kristianstad in Sweden.
