[27 NOV 98] COVENTRY CITY COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
New Bus Service To Coombe Park

Leisure Services announced that a new bus service has begun taking visitors to Coombe Country Park. The 585 Bus will run from Pool Meadow Bus Station and is operated by A Line Travel. The Bus Service has been supported financially by Warwickshire County Council, following increased government grants being made available for services to rural communities.

This means that those people who would normally be unable to visit the beautiful park now have the opportunity to do so!

The bus service will operate Monday to Saturday. When special events take place on a Sunday, Leisure Services will endeavour to run a service then also – watch the press for further details. Fares cost £1 per adult or £1.50 return or 50p for children or 80p return.

Councillor Dave Edwards, Chair of the Sports and Parks Policy Team said:

"This is a great chance for everyone to visit the Country Park and experience the beautiful surrounding there. There are lots of events and activities taking place so there is always something for everyone to enjoy."

He continued:

"I am delighted that the new bus service is operating. It will be of great benefit to those families who don’t have their own transport or simple want to leave their car at home. I really hope that it is well used and that the service is viable."
