Stepping Out Towards A Brighter Future

Thanks to a City Council initiative more unemployed people in Coventry are set to take S.T.E.P’s towards a brighter future.

Designed by The Pacific Institute (TPI) the S.T.E.P’s programme – Steps To Excellence for Personal Success was piloted last year with amazing results.

60 unemployed people, some of whom had never worked, completed the three day course which covers elements such as goal setting and motivation techniques. Today, 19 of them are in a job and 12 have gone on to further education and training.

Commenting on the course Councillor Nick Nolan, Chair of the Economic Regeneration Policy Team said,

"The S.T.E.P’s programme is a unique course which aims to give unemployed people back their self confidence, self belief and self esteem. It’s about enabling Coventry people to reach their full potential so they have the best possible chance of getting a job."

NOTES

S.T.E.P’s courses are run all across the world in many parts of the UK including Glasgow, Kent, Humberside and Newport.
