[05 MAY 00] NUNEATON & BEDWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL NEWS
Tories Double Up In Nuneaton

In Nuneaton and Bedworth the Conservatives gained five of the 15 seats being contested, but are still dwarfed by Labour in the area.

Only the two main parties have any seats on the borough council, and the Conservatives doubled their share to ten.

Gains were made in Mount Pleasant, Bulkington, Whitestone, St Nicholas and Weddington wards.

The largest turnaround was in Whitestone, where Nicholas Grant gained the seat with a majority of almost 1,000 over Labour rival Patricia Baldry.
