Death Of Mr Peter Clark, Past Mayor Of Rugby

Mr Peter Clark, a Past Mayor and Councillor, died on 16 June 1999. Mr Clark was the Mayor of Rugby in 1976-77 and was a Councillor for Overslade Ward from 1973-79, 1983-87 and 1988-92. He also represented Brownsover Ward from 1979-82. During his term as Mayor, Mr Clark was instrumental in forging the initial twinning links between Rugby and Rüsselsheim, Germany.

As Mr Clark was a Past Mayor of the Borough, there will be a Civic Funeral. This will be held at St Andrews Parish Church, Rugby at 2.00pm on Friday 25 June 1999. The Mayor and Councillors will process in robes to the Church via Evreux Way and North Street. During this time, the traffic in this area will be halted by the Police. The Borough flag will be flown at half mast on the day of the funeral.

Members of the public are invited to attend the service where the present Councillor for Overslade Councillor Mrs Joyce Woodings will pay tribute to Mr Clark’s record f service to the community.
