[28 JUN 99] STRATFORD ON AVON DISTRICT COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
TOP Training Opportunity For Sport Coaching

Stratford District Council is looking for sports coaches, play leaders and enthusiastic individuals to assist in the expansion of youth sport development throughout the District.

TOP Play and BT TOP Sport are part of a national initiative from the Youth Sport Trust aimed at developing sporting opportunities for young people and has been running last year in the District.

The programme is set to expand in September with additional primary schools coming on board in the Stratford and Alcester areas. In addition the District Council also plans to build on the existing school based work and provide opportunities to develop TOP Play and TOP Sport with the assistance of local sports clubs. This will allow young people to progress along a sporting pathway that will ultimately take them from the school environment to the club environment.

The District Council is looking for individuals who are interested in becoming TOPS deliverers for the benefit of their communities and has organised a training day. The TOPS training day will take place on Saturday 17 July at Stratford Leisure Centre from 9am to 4pm.

For further information about the training day or the scheme please contact Helen Sheldon.
