Town and rural groups net lottery thousands

Community projects across south Warwickshire have been awarded almost £36,000 in the sixth round of the Lottery funding programme 'Millennium Festival Awards For All.'

This sixth round of grants brings the total within the Stratford-on-Avon District to more than £162,700.

Millennium Festival Awards For All is particularly aimed at helping fund groups which involve local communities, or which bring people together to enjoy arts, charities, sports and heritage, as well as projects that celebrate the millennium.

The emphasis is on projects where a small sum of money can have a big impact.  Grants of between £500 and £5,000 are available to help groups work better, to involve more people and to create a lasting benefit for communities.

The current Millennium Festival Awards for All scheme closed on Friday, with a new replacement scheme being launched this month.

Any local community groups in south Warwickshire who would like to apply for a grant should contact Lucy Grove at Stratford-on-Avon District Council on 01789 260694.
