[16 OCT 98] WARWICK DISTRICT COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
New Flood Fund Opened

Anyone In Need Can Apply – Insured or Not.

The Council of Voluntary Services have received donations from the District and County Councils totalling about £10,000, to be used for the ongoing relief of victims of the Easter floods.

This fund has been set up to help you. If you have suffered financially as a result of the floods please use it.  There have been relatively few applications so far.

Any private individual in financial need as a direct result of the flood, whether insured or not, can apply. (Businesses however are not currently being considered.) The fund can give up to a maximum of £250

To apply fill out a form which can be obtained from either;

  • CVS, 109 Warwick Street, Leamington Spa, CV32 4QZ (881151)
  • St Mary’s Church Office, St Mary’s Road, Leamington Spa, CV31 1JP (778505)
  • Citizens Advice Bureau, 28 Hamilton Terrace, Leamington Spa, CV32 4LY (421447)

You will need to give a brief description of the flood damage to your property; list the items you wish to claim for; state briefly why you are in need of this money. You will also need to give the name referee, who can confirm your situation (eg local Councillor, leader of a community group, representative of a local church, doctor, social worker etc.) They will be asked to guarantee that you have spent the money on the items you have specified, by verifying the receipt. If you do not know anyone who can fulfil this role for you, contact St Mary’s Church who will be pleased to send someone to discuss it with you.

Once you have returned your form you should hear within 10 – 14 days whether you have been successful or not.
