Foot And Mouth Spreads Near Coventry

The area running along the north of Coventry deemed to be at risk from foot and mouth disease has been extended following another case of the virus near Nuneaton.

Parts of north east Warwickshire have now been included in the area with severe restrictions in place after a case was discovered at a farm at Wykin, near Fenny Drayton.

Government officials have extended the original infected area to take new the case into account. It now stretches over to the M1 near Lutterworth, and goes as far west as Stoke-on-Trent. CLICK HERE FOR A MAP OF THE INFECTED AREA

All footpaths in Warwickshire, and paths and parks in Coventry that are on the city boundary have been closed for over a week.

It is illegal to walk in areas where posters have been put up telling people to keep out. In infected areas, such as Bedworth, Nuneaton and Atherstone, dogs must be kept on leads as they can spread the virus.
