WARWICKSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
£1.5 Million Rates Saving for County Council!

Warwickshire County Council to date has made estimated savings of over £1.5million on reductions in rating assessments on its properties including schools and offices.

The savings relate to the period 1 April 1995 to 31 March 2000 and are a direct result of appeals against the 1995 Rating Revaluation which ascribed to all non-domestic property a new Rateable Value.

There are still over 300 appeals outstanding and consequently further savings are anticipated over the 5 year period to which the 1995 list relates.  The majority of savings would benefit schools throughout the county.

Councillor Ken Browne, Chair of Resources Management sub-committee said:

"I am extremely pleased that our appeals have been successful and we have been able to make such substantial savings.  The majority of these savings benefit savings throughout Warwickshire and will also assist to support improvements in other services."
