Academy Plan For Bright Sky Blue Future

Coventry City has revealed plans to build a football academy in the city to groom the stars of the future.

The club has put in a planning application to build nine pitches on land at Allard Way, alongside the River Sowe in Stoke.

Three of the pitches will be used for the first team, and the rest devoted to promoting new talent.

There will also be a gym, an indoor pitch an accommodation block and offices.

The matter will be looked at by Coventry City Council’s planning team, probably in the next six weeks.

Club secretary Graham Hover said the development would give the club better facilities, and it would allow the young players to work alongside the first team for the first time.

He said the aim was to set the Sky Blues up for the future, nurturing top talent and pushing the club forward. Its youth team has reached the last two finals of the FA Youth Cup.
