Sky Blues legend Roland Nilsson is to return to Coventry to act as Gordon Strachan’s assistant as the club fight relegation.

His Swedish club Helsingborgs announced today that Nilsson was flying to England after accepting the role.

He was offered by Strachan during a recent visit to Coventry

Former Sweden captain Nilsson is to take up the post immediately. In the first instance the post will be for three months.

At the end of the season Strachan and Nilsson will discuss if they are working well together before deciding whether to continue.

Nilsson played 69 games for Coventry before returning to Sweden.

Teamtalk website reported Nilsson as saying:

"It will be very interesting to work with Gordon. Everything has happened very quickly.

"I was questioned about the job when I visited Coventry last weekend when Gordon asked me if I felt like doing it. It didn't take me long to consider."
