Telfer was unlucky to miss out
on selection for Scotland’s World Cup campaign after a very consistent season on the
right hand side of midfield.
The former Luton man made 39 appearances and scored five goals, forming a fine
partnership with veteran full back Roland Nilsson.
Ron Atkinson paid £1.15 million – fixed by a tribunal – to bring him to
Highfield Road but it took him a couple of seasons to find his true form and he became a
fans' favourite with a series of gritty performances.
