sprinter Marlon Devonish is $10,000 better off after a fine weekend for local athletes.
The 100 metre man came second in the Sheffield Grand Prix meeting to win the Nivea
Sprint Challenge designed to unearth the next Linford Christie.
He was leading the series going into the Sheffield event and his second place behind
Dwain Chambers was enough to give him the overall victory.
Rugbys Katharine Merry chalked up her fast 200m time of the season at the same
meeting, coming home fourth in 22.93sec.
Andy Hart, of Coventry Godiva, was seventh in the 800m, finishing in 1min
46.77sec, but the first Britain home. It was his first outing since missing the
AAAs with injury.
