Crusaders Fail To Tame The Topcats

Dip Donaldson, Coventry CrusadersCoventry Crusaders supremo Dip Donaldson is hoping his club are on the up after an opening day defeat.

The MHB Crusaders went down 64-67 at home to the Brixton Topcats but should soon be welcoming back three players.

They have lost Matt Donaldson and Ben Livingstone, who has quit to join the police force, while Russ Saunders, who was to replace Ben at guard, has decided not to sign on.

But Donaldson said today that Frenchman Nicolas Vinsonneau was due to return to Coventry in the next few days. Dean Smith and Dwaine Ewart are also expected to rejoin the team soon.

Donaldson said:

"It meant that we were, in effect, five men down. We didn’t have key players and it meant there were quite a few turn-overs in the game.

"There were 400 people there to watch, which is great for a first game. We want capacity crowds this season but this was a very good start."
