[FA UMBRO TROPHY]

Atherstone faced one of the toughest ties of the round against last season's Wembley finalists but will not be expecting too much from the replay on the windy Lancashire coast.

The Conference side were clearly the better team and United had to survive a first half onslaught.

Dale Belford, United's goalkeeper was in the action with smart saves from Brian Butler and Justin O'Reilly. Butler should have scored on the half hour but his header flew over the target.

Atherstone's best chance came in the 67th minute but Kim Green's powerful header was superbly saved by the Southport goalkeeper Billy Stewart.

The last chance to win the match fell to Southport's Phil Bolland near the end, but he headed over.

ATHERSTONE UNITED:
Belford, Blair, Barratt, Kelly, Albrighton, Olner, Young, Hart, White, Middleton, Martin. Subs: Elvin, Green, Bennett, Wright, Dean.
