Atherstone United
- Weekend Preview

Atherstone United are at home to Dorchester in the Dr Martens Premier League tomorrow hoping to build on their first win of the season achieved last Monday.

The club had made a worrying start with only one point from its opening three games, but they turned on to the winning track by beating Worcester City 2-1 away on Monday.

Now manager Ron Bradbury is looking for them to build on that result.

"We were awful last Saturday in losing at home to Cambridge, but we played a lot better on Bank Holiday Monday at Worcester. We showed no passion, no desire, against Cambridge but maybe it was the beautiful playing surface at Worcester which inspired them to play.

"We face another tough one against Dorchester. They are normally a top six side every year, but this season they have been struggling to find some form. They have the same players as last year so I cannot explain why they have started so badly. We don't beat them often so it will be a toughie."

Bradbury is looking to strengthen his side in the next few days. He has given the required seven days notice that he intends to approach midfielder Timmy Warner, who is currently a non-contract player with junior club Shepshed Dynamo.

"He is a good player with a good engine and he can shuttle between the penalty areas for ninety minutes," said Bradbury.

Atherstone need a good result against Dorchester to set them up for their trip to play at Salisbury on Wednesday night.
